It’s almost Super Bowl Sunday, and I’ve already made my game-day picks: nachos over wings, the halftime show over the commercials, and Seahawks for the win. Whether you’re all-in on the game, just there for the snacks, or football season quietly ended for you sometime in October, I hope you enjoy the bit of football fun we worked into this newsletter. Like the Super Bowl, the best part isn’t only what happens on the field. It’s the teamwork and dedication behind the scenes.
Across FCSS, that’s exactly what you’ve been doing every day. Take a few minutes to flip through the sections and photos to see what your colleagues Around FCSS have been up to over the past month.
There is so much more ahead! The holidays already feel like a long time ago, and we’re already back in the game! In just a few weeks, we head straight into our Season of Excellence. From late February through June, our students will step up in ways that continue to impress and inspire us year after year. Performances. Competitions. Showcases. Art exhibits. Athletic championships. Academic bowls. The hard work they have been putting in since August is about to come to life, and we get to be there to witness it.
As we move into this next season, I hope we remember this: these are the moments students carry with them. Not the flyers. Not the schedule. Not the logistics.
They will remember how they felt.
They will remember being seen.
They will remember being celebrated. These memories will help shape how students see themselves and who they believe they can become.
And you make that happen.
Every detail you plan, every logistics challenge you solve, every time you show up early, stay late, cheer from the sidelines, or help behind the scenes creates the space for these moments to exist. I know how much time and energy goes into making these events happen, and I appreciate your continued commitment to showing up and making each one meaningful for our kids.
Some of our students will remember this spring for the rest of their lives. The experiences we help create now will stay with them long after the season ends.
Thank you for the time, care, and commitment you bring to this work, and for understanding how much it matters. Let’s make this Season of Excellence one our students never forget.
Sincerely,
